Your future ... our focus. The mechanical construction industry in America is constantly changing, as new technologies continue to evolve. Our future will require a workforce of the highest caliber, based on highly-trained and performance-oriented technicians who are comfortable using sophisticated equipment and methods.
You can have a career as one of those highly skilled tradespeople
and reach that level of expertise in the plumbing and pipefitting
industries, as you become a vital part of the construction force
dedicated to keeping America proud and strong.
Income and benefits, right from the start. The Pipe Trades
Apprentice Program is unique in that you actually earn income while
you learn, because when working on job sites and in fabrication
shops, you are a regular part of the workforce. You'll be eligible
for overtime pay, promotions and increased regular pay based on
your length of service and performance. And you also receive benefits
like medical insurance, dental insurance and prescription drug coverage,
as well as building a retirement fund.
Building your career potential. As you build your future,
you'll develop more complex skills while expanding your expertise.
That will make you even more valuable to potential employers, which
means you'll be ready for a greater variety of jobs and a broad
range of career opportunities, maybe even including starting your
own company!
While college graduates today have an average starting salary of
$26,000 a year after four years of study, you can expect to earn
between $40,000 and $75,000 after completion of the five-year Pipe
Trades Apprentice Program.
Full time work, wherever you choose to live. Upon successful
completion of the Program, Apprentices are awarded Journeyperson
status in Local 421, making them fully trained union pipefitters
or plumbers. As a member of the union, you receive full wages and
benefits, and if you so desire, you'll have the ability to travel
to any city in the United States or Canada to work in your trade.
